DMX was born on 18th December 1970 as the son of Arnett Simmons and Joe Barker in Yonkers, New York. When he was young, he was bought up in the Jehovah's Witness Faith. A song "Blood Red " was produced by Divine Bars on 28th June 2016 and on January 11, 2017, DMX released a new song produced by Swizz Beats entitled "Bain iz Back".

During his career, DMX has sold about 70 million albums worldwide to date and on 2013, he filed for bankruptcy in a Manhattan court and claimed about $50,000 in assets and somewhere between $1million and $10million worth of debt to various creditors. His debts include about $1.24 million in child support. In 2017, he appeared in court charged with 14 counts of Tax fraud for about $1.7 million.
