Prior to the debut, she had made a distinct name in the world of Muai Thai being the STBA fighter of the year, WBC Uk Flyweight Champion, WKL European Flyweight Champion, IKF European Flyweight Champion, British Muay Thai Champion. Calderwood then won against Lena Ovchynnikova at India's SFL 3 in 202. Likewise, she defeated Ainara Mota at On Top before making her debut in Invicta Fighting Championship. In October 2012, Joanne made her Invicta debut against Ashley Cummins at Invicta FC 3: Penne Vs. Sugiyama.  She won the match via knockout from a knee to body in the first round.
