During the chaos of civil war and foreign invasions, Marcus was adopted during his infancy by Leo and Sophia Lemonis, a Greek couple living in Miami, Florida. Lemonis earned a bachelor's degree in political science and a minor in criminology from Marquette University in the year 1995. In the beginning of 1997, Marcus held several sales and managerial roles for AutoNation. He co-founded a company called Freedom Roads. He began to acquire RV dealerships. The company merged with Camping World by 2006, and then Good Sam Enterprises in 2011, with Lemonis at the helm. Lemonis teamed up with NASCAR in 2004.
