Vanna White moved to Los Angeles in 1979 to started her a career in acting. Eventually, she landed her debut role as Mickey in the movie, "Gypsy Angels" in 1980. In the same year, Vanna also managed to get a small role in movies like "Looker" and "Graduation Day" in 1981.Vanna appeared in one episode of the TV series "Star of the Family" in 1982.

Later, she auditioned for "The Wheel of Fortune" in November and was chosen out of 200 applicants to join the game show as the hostess and a puzzle-board turner. 

On December 13, 1982, Vanna first joined the "Wheel of Fortune" and since then she has been acting as the show's daytime hostess. Vanna also acts in its evening version as the co-host with Pat Sajak.

Its syndicated version of "The Wheel of Fortune" was debuted in September 1983 and with it, the popularity of Vanna White also started to increase. By 1986, the show started to attract 30 million viewers and grossed a whopping $100 million.
