 Monica Seles was born on December 2, 1973, in Yugoslav. In 1994 she became a naturalized American citizen and in 2007 she received a Hungarian citizenship. Her parents are Ester and Karolj. Seles started to play tennis when she was just 5. She was coached by her father. He made tennis fun for her by drawing the picture as he was a cartoonist. He is the first to recognize her skills and the one who helped her develop her two-handed style for forehand and backhand.

At the age of 11, she was coached by Jelena Gencic and she won Junior Orange Bowl in 1985.

In 1986, Seles along with her brother, Zoltan moved to the United States. She then joined Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy for 2 years. After 9 months her parents moved to Florida to stay with her and Zoltan.

On April 21, 2009, after being stabbed by a man, Monica Seles released her memoir about her depression and eating disorders. Her father eventually died after being diagnosis by cancer and this tragic event made a huge impact on her life.

She got married to her longtime billionaire boyfriend, Tom Golisano. They are still continuing their relationship and going strong. However, Tom has already divorced 3 women.
