The Career of Sean Williams-

He was expected to be called up during the players' strike in April 2004. Almost a year later, with just one first-class match under his belt, he joined the Zimbabwe squad for a tour of South Africa.

After turning down a central contract the following month, he decided to pursue a more stable career overseas. However, he later changed his mind and returned to play for Zimbabwe three months later. Despite being plagued by injuries, he once again left for a contract in South Africa in 2008, only to return a few weeks later. In the ICC Intercontinental Cup match in 2010-11, he scored an impressive 178 for Zimbabwe XI against Ireland. Unfortunately, he was ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 due to a fractured thumb.

He made his Test debut against the West Indies in the second Test at Roseau in 2013, scoring 31 and 6. In September 2013, he made himself unavailable for the first Test against Pakistan due to payment issues. However, after reaching a satisfactory agreement, he reaffirmed his commitment to playing for the country in the future.

On February 19, 2015, he played a crucial role in Zimbabwe's victory against the United Arab Emirates in the Cricket World Cup, scoring an unbeaten 76 runs. At the time, Zimbabwe was in a difficult position at 177/5, but he guided the team to victory with his innings of 76 runs off 65 balls, including 7 fours and one six. In April 2019, during the ODI series against the United Arab Emirates, Williams scored the fastest century for a Zimbabwean batsman in an ODI match, reaching the milestone in just 75 balls.

In January 2020, Williams captained Zimbabwe in a two-match home Test series against Sri Lanka, marking his first Test series as captain. He scored his second Test century in the second match, making 107 runs before being bowled by Dhananjaya De Silva in a drawn match. This was Zimbabwe's first home draw since 2017, although Sri Lanka won the series 1-0. In June 2023, Williams scored Zimbabwe's fastest-ever ODI century, a record that was broken just two days later by Sikandar Raza. During the same World Cup Qualifier tournament, Williams played an outstanding innings of 174 runs off 101 balls against the USA, helping Zimbabwe achieve its highest-ever ODI total of 408.
