To start the career as a writer, Suzanne started writing for children's television shows in 1991. She was the head writer of Clifford's Puppy Days which was the production of Scholastic Entertainment.

Collins has worked on several shows including Clarissa Explains It All, Oswald, Little Bear, and The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo. She also received a Writers Guild of America nomination for her work in the book, Santa, Baby.

The Underland Chronicles

After being inspired from Alice in Wonderland, Collins started writing children's book. Therefore, she went to write, Gregor the Overlander of the series, The Underland Chronicles. 

Then, from 2003 to 2007, she went to write other four books of The Underland Chronicles namely, Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, Gregor and the Curse of the Warmbloods, Gregor and the Marks of Secret, and Gregor and the Code of Claw.

The Hunger Games

Only a year later, Collins' first book of the trilogy, The Hunger Games was released by Scholastic Press. It's other two books, Catching and Mockingjay was released in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Her other books include Fire Proof: Shelby Woo #11(1999), When Charlie McButton Lost Power(2005), and Year of the Jungle(2013). She was also named one of Time Magazine's Most Influential People in 2010.
