Demetri Martin started his career as a comedian at the Boston Comedy Club in New York, in 2001 he got the opportunity to work in the Comedy Central's stand-up showcase Premium Blend. After taking part, with a small role in the film, "Un boss under stress", he began a fruitful comedian and screenwriter for Comedy Central, presenting several specials in which he could also show his talent as a musician. 

From 2003 and 2004, Demetri wrote the 136 episodes of Late Night with Conan O'Brien and he had his own Comedy Central Presents stand-up special in 2004. Starting in late 2005, he works for The Daily Show, where he hosted the segment called "Trendspotting", commenting on youth trends and phenomena, such as guerrilla marketing, Xbox 360, wine, hookahs and the narghile, under the name "Senior Youth Correspondent".
