Growing up with his three brothers, Adam, Nathan, and Chris, Walton went to University of San Diego High School. Graduating from the high school in 1998, he started his college career at University of Arizona. Furthermore, he graduated from the University in 2003. Being one of the best in his college career, he turned pro after selected by Los Angeles Lakers in 2003.
