Sean Bean was born on 17 April 1959, in Handsworth, a suburb of Sheffield. In 1975, Bean left Brook Comprehensive School with O Levels in Art and English and then went to Rotherham College of Arts and Technology to take a welding course while working on his father’s farm. Later he shifted to drama classes at the Rotherham College and received a scholarship to the prestigious academy and graduated a few years later with the Silver Medal for his performance in Waiting for Godot.

Shortly thereafter, Bean performed in several West End productions between 1986 and 1988 and appeared in Romeo and Juliet with the Glasgow Citizens Theatre and with the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon. He also appeared in his first film, Derek Jarman's ‘Caravaggio’ in 1986. Bean became an established actor on British television and appeared in the BBC productions “Clarissa” and “Lady Chatterley” in 1991 and 1993 respectively. He was signed for the position of ‘Richard Sharpe’ in the ITV television series ‘Sharpe’ which made him very well-known, a character whose credibility was enhanced due to Bean’s Yorkshire accent. They divorced in 2000. Bean started dating actress Georgina Sutcliffe. They got married in 2008 eventually they ended their marriage after 2 years.
