Georgia officially began her career with the 2001 TV film, "A Fish Out of Water." Following this, she portrayed an orphan in an episode of the short-lived TV series, "Dangerville."

At the age of 14, Groome secured her inaugural feature film role in the well-received British independent film "London to Brighton" in the year 2006, embodying the character of an 11-year-old runaway. Simultaneously, she participated as one of the eight young adventurers on "Serious Amazon" for CBBC in the same year. In 2007, Groome played a role in Elaine Wickham's short film, "My Mother."

The year 2008 marked Groome's minor appearance in the comedy-horror film "The Cottage." However, it was her breakthrough role as 14-year-old Georgia Nicolson in the 2008 film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging" that garnered attention. She also had a supporting role in the horror film "The Disappeared."
