Flynn was born on 1 December 1958, in Middle-town, Rhode Island, United State of America. Son of Helen Frances(mother) who worked in real estate, Charles Francis Flynn(father) a banker and he has four sisters and three brothers. His nickname is Mike. He did his bachelor from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 and later did Military graduation from the Reserve Officer's Training Corps. He also did master of Business Administration in Telecommunication from Golden Gate University, Master of Military Art and Science from the United States Army Command and General Staff College and studies from Naval War Arts in National Security and Strategic Sar College. As a teenager, he engaged in an array of athletic activities like driveway basketball games to surfing.

In 1981, Flynn was commissioned a second in the U.S. Army lieutenant in military intelligence. He was assigned to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he deployed for the advance of Grenade in 1983 and Operation Uphold Democracy in Haiti. At Schofield Barracks in Hawaii, Fort Polk in Louisiana and Fort Huachuca in Arizona, he receives a steady string of promotions as he rotated from posts. In 1994, he was named a chief of joint war plans for the American invasion of Haiti. By the time September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, he was well positioned for top roles in his fields and until 2002, he served as director of intelligent for Joint Task Force 180 in Afghanistan and commanded the 111th Military Intelligence Bridge for another two years. From July 2004 to June 2007, he was director of intelligence for Joint Special Operation Command with service in Afghanistan(Operation Enduring Freedom) and the Iraq War(Operation Iraqi Freedom). From June 2007 to July 2008, he served as the director of Intelligence of the United States Central Command, as the director of intelligence of the Joint Staff from July 2008 to June 2009. From June 2009 to October 2010, then the director of intelligence of the International Security Assistant Force in Afghanistan. Micheal Flynn was promoted to Lieutenant General and reserved as partner executive of inhabitant comprehensive in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in September 2011. On April 17, 2012, President Barack Obama nominated Micheal Flynn to be the 18th executive director of the Defense Intelligence Agency and Flynn took command of the DlA in July 2012.
