In the year 2002, Stan became professional and in 2003 he officially began his professional career. He won the Junior French Open and was ranked no.7 in the Junior World Ranking. In the year 2005, Stan made up to his first ATP final in his debut at the French Open. Surprisingly the following year, Stan won his first ATP title against Novak Djokovic as Novak retired through fatigue.
