After failing an audition for Sunset Strip staple London, Adler formed a band with his childhood friend Slash in 1983. They named the band Road Crew. But a year later, Slash left the band due to the lack of a lead vocalist.

Then, Adler joined a local band, Hollywood Rose formed by singer Axl Rose and guitarist Izzy Stradlin who left shortly after.

Adler Career Beginnings

Axl Rose formed a band, Guns N' Roses in 1985 and Adler also joined the band along with Stradlin, Tracii Guns, Ole Beich, and Rob Gardner. Later, Slash and Duff McKagan also joined the band.

And in 1987, Guns N' Roses released their debut album, Appetite for Destruction.  A year later, their another album, G N' R Lies was released. And Use Your Illusion I and II were their next two albums released in 1991.

Adler was arrested on a felony charge of heroin possession in 1995. After his release from the prison, he formed a new band, BulletBoys in 1998 along with DJ Ashba.

The band disbanded after Adler was sentenced in prison and probation for domestic violence and a ban on using illegal drugs. But again in 2003, Adler formed a band, Suki Jone with Jizzy Pearl and Keri Kelli.

They later named the band's name to Adler's Appetite. And they released their self-titled EP in 2005 and another EP, Alive in 2012. He also collaborated with Slash to release his self-titled debut album in 2010.

Besides music, Adler has appeared in various reality television show including Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew(2008, 2011), Sober House, and others.


In 2010, Adler published his autobiography titled My Appetite of Destruction: Sex, and Drugs, and Guns N' Roses. 

Steven formed a new band calling it Adler in 2012 which consisted of guitarist Lonny Paul and singer/guitarist Jacob Bunton and released their album, Back from the Dead the same year.
