Charles Peete Rose Jr. known as Charle Rose was born on January 5, 1942, in Henderson, North Carlione, United States. He was only the child of his parents, father( Charles Peeta Rose Sr.) was a tobacco farmer and owned a country store and mother(Margaret). He attended Duke University and in 1964 graduated with the Bachelor's Degree in History. From the Duke University School of Law, he got the Juris Doctor degree in 1968. He spent most of his childhood with his family and also helped out his family business since he was seven.

In 1974, he got a break after Bill Moyers hired him as managing editor for the PBS series Bill Moyers' International Report.In 1975, Moyers named Rose executive producer of Bill Moyers Journal and soon Rose began appearing on camera. His show "A Conversation with Jimmy Carter" one aired Moyers's series U.S.A People and Polities won 1976 Peabody Award. He worked at several networks honing his interview skills until he was hired by KXAS-TV in Dallas-Fort Worth as program manager and gave late-night time slot become the Charlie Rose Show.
