David Ryan Adams was born on 5 November 1974 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. His father was a contractor and the mother was an English teacher.
He has one elder brother and one younger sister. When Ryan just 4 years, their parents got separated.
So, he along with his mother, brother and sister moved with their maternal grandparents since they have no place to go after their father left them.
When he was 13, his mother got re-married.
