Formerly, Walker concentrated on portrait and documentary work for British newspapers. He joined Vogue at the age of 25 where he shot his first fashion story for it. Also, he had photographed for the British, Italian, and American editions. Along with this, he had worked for W Magazine and LOVE Magazine too. He staged his first major exhibition in 2008 at the Design Museum, London. This overlapped with the publication of his book, named as ‘Pictures’ which was published by teNeues.

2010:  ‘The Lost Explorer’, the first short film of Tim Walker's was premiered in Switzerland at Locarno Film Festival. This won the title of best short film at the Chicago United Film Festival in 2011.

2012: The opening of his photographic exhibition, 'Story Teller’ was seen at Somerset House, London. This exhibition overlapped with the publication of his other book, ‘Story Teller’ which was published by Thames and Hudson.

Early life of Tim Walker

Tim Walker was born in England in 1970. He used to work on Cecil Beaton archive for a year before university. There he built up his interest in photography. He completed his three-year BA Honors degree in Photography at Exeter College of Art. 

He was awarded a third prize of "The Independent Young Photographer the Year. He completed his graduation in 1994. Thereupon he worked as a freelance photographic assistant in London. Then he moved to New York City, the US to work as a full-time assistant to Richard Avedon.
