Bowler graduated from the prestigious National Institute of Dramatic Art and began a successful career in the performing arts. He gained recognition in the theater world, working extensively with the renowned Bell Shakespeare Company. Transitioning to television, he made his debut as Constable Wayne Patterson on the popular series Blue Heelers, captivating audiences from 1993 to 1996. He went on to appear in other TV shows such as Pacific Drive, Medivac, Always Greener, Stingers, On the Beach, and Something in the Air. Notable roles include his lead portrayal in the 2004 miniseries Through My Eyes, which explored the disappearance of Azaria Chamberlain, as well as his recurring role on All Saints.
Bowler also explored hosting opportunities, serving as the host of the Australian version of The Mole from 2000 to 2003.
