Vinnie Paul started his profession in 1981 and formed a heavy metal band, Pantera with the help his sibling Dimebag Darrell, Terry Glaze on guitars, bassist Tommy D. Bradford, and vocalist Donnie Hart. In the mid-year of 1982, Bradford left the band and Rex Brown joined this band.


In 1987, Vinnie enrolled vocalist Phil Anselmo for his band and in 1990 they marked Atco Records and released Cowboys from Hell. This studio collection was the main cause of fame of band Pantera. After this Pantera was named for four best metal execution Grammys for the songs, "Suicide Note Pt. I", "I'm Broken", "Revolution Is My Name" and "Cemetery Gates".

In 2003, Vinnie with his younger brother formed heavy metal band entitled Damageplan with the help with the assistance of former tattoo artist Bob Zilla on bass and former Halford guitarist Pat Lachman on lead vocals.

Vinnie started for heavy metal supergroup Hellyeah, alongside vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett from Mudvayne, guitarist Tom Maxwell from Nothingface, and bassist Bob Zilla from Damageplan, who was approached to replace original bassist Jerry Montano.

As of 2016, the heavy metal supergroup has released five albums, with the latest being Unden!able, released in June 2016.
