The Career of Wasim Akram-

Wasim Akram began his cricketing career directly with the Pakistan National team without playing first-class or college-level cricket. On November 23, 1984, he made his international debut in the second ODI against New Zealand at Faisalabad. Subsequently, he made his Test debut against the same opposition at Auckland. In just his second Test appearance for Pakistan, Akram showcased his exceptional skills by taking a fifer in both innings, attracting significant attention.

During the late 1980s, Akram became a regular member of the Pakistan team until an injury temporarily halted his progress. After undergoing multiple surgeries, he made a successful comeback to the international circuit. During this phase, he focused on mastering the art of swing bowling. Akram played a crucial role in Pakistan's triumph at the 1992 World Cup and also led the team to the final seven years later. His partnership with Waqar Younis formed a formidable bowling duo that was often deemed unplayable.

Akram's remarkable ability to trouble batsmen, both with movement in the air and off the pitch, was evident in his impressive record. He took numerous wickets, including several hat tricks, showcasing his skill and versatility. In the 2003 World Cup, Akram achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first player to record 500 wickets in the 50-over format. By the end of his career, he held the distinction of being Pakistan's top wicket-taker in both Tests and ODIs. He also held the record for the most ODI wickets, with 502 dismissals, until Muttiah Muralitharan surpassed him. 

Akram retired from ODIs after the 2003 World Cup at the age of 35, having previously retired from Test cricket in 2002. Wasim Akram retired from cricket with 414 Test wickets and 502 ODI wickets. Talking about his batting career, Wasim scored a total of 2898 Test runs with his highest test score of 257 not out which he scored in a match against Zimbabwe. Wasim also scored 3717 ODI runs with his highest score of 86. Wasim also had a notable presence in England's domestic circuit, representing Lancashire and later Hampshire.

He was born on June 3, 1966 (age 56 years) in Lahore, Pakistan. Wasim is the son of Chaudhry Mohammad Akram (Father), and Begum Akram Chaudhry (Mother)He has three siblings, two elder brothers (Naeem Akram, and Nadeem Akram) and a younger sister, Sofia Akram. In the year 2013, Wasim got married to Shaniera Akram and the couple has been blessed with a baby girl, Aiyla Sabeen Rose Akram. Previously, Wasim was also married to Huma Mufti. Wasim and Huma got married in the year 1995 and were also blessed with two sons, Tahmoor and Akbar but unfortunately in the year 2009, Huma passed away due to several organ failures.
