Matthew's best innings in an ODI came in the year 2007 against New Zealand where he scored a not-out 181. The biggest knock in Test cricket of his career came against Zimbabwe when he scored 380 runs in Perth. After retiring from international cricket, Matthew Hayden continued to play in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Chennai Super Kings. Hayden played a crucial part in the first 3 seasons for CSK playing 32 innings and scoring 1107 runs. Hayden also won the orange cap playing for CSK in the 2009 IPL scoring 572 runs. Hayden also took up commentary work, working for Channel 9.
