Simpson was born in San Francisco, California to Eunice and Jimmy Lee Simpson. Eunice was a Hospital administrator, and Jimmy was a Chef and Bank custodian. His parents separated in 1952 and thereafter O.J. was raised by his mother. O.J's dad was a popular drag queen in the San Francisco Bay area who later in life announced he was gay and died of AIDS in 1986.
